Comprehensive Curriculum Designed for All Skill Levels
At Chorus Music, our structured curriculum covers the essential skills and knowledge for drummers of all levels:
Our beginner lessons introduce foundational skills, such as holding the drumsticks correctly, understanding the parts of a drum set, and mastering basic rhythms and time signatures. You’ll start with the core drum kit components—bass drum, snare drum, hi-hat, toms, and cymbals—and learn essential drumming techniques that form the building blocks of your journey.
If you’re familiar with the basics, our intermediate classes focus on expanding your technical skills. We introduce more complex beats, patterns, and fills, along with exercises to improve hand-foot coordination and timing. Students explore genre-specific drumming styles, such as rock, jazz, pop, and hip-hop, while learning to follow along with a metronome and backing tracks to develop precision and musicality.
Advanced students can push their skills to new heights by mastering advanced drumming techniques, like polyrhythms, ghost notes, syncopation, and complex time signatures. Lessons focus on developing improvisational skills, allowing students to express themselves freely and creatively. Advanced drummers also work on reading and interpreting sheet music, enhancing their versatility for any musical scenario.

Rhythm Fundamentals
Learn core rhythmic patterns and understand tempo, timekeeping, and basic counting. Rhythm is the foundation of drumming, and mastering this will allow you to play confidently with any musical ensemble.
Drum Kit Coordination
Drumming involves full-body coordination, with each limb working independently and together. Our lessons focus on exercises to develop hand-foot coordination, allowing you to integrate each component of the drum kit seamlessly.
Improvisation and Soloing
Drummers at advanced levels can explore their creative side through improvisation and soloing, which allows them to express their own musical voice and take their playing to the next level.
Sticking Techniques and Control
Proper stick grip, wrist control, and finger techniques are essential for speed, control, and consistency. We cover everything from traditional to matched grip, helping you find the style that best suits you.
Playing with Music
As students progress, they’ll learn to play along with their favorite songs and use backing tracks, improving timing, consistency, and listening skills.
Music Theory for Drummers
We introduce the basics of music notation, structure, and phrasing, helping students understand the theory behind the music. For those interested in composition or joining a band, this is a valuable skill.
